Violin II

Tricia Bonner

Violinist Tricia Bonner is an active performer in the Indianapolis area, presenting classical, folk, pop, and new art music to the community through an expansive spectrum of ensembles, productions, and music collaborations. Bonner most frequently performs with the Deoc Ensemble, Classical Music Indy, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Indianapolis Ceili Band, the Butler Ballet Orchestra, Sound Ecologies Music Collective, and her own violin-piano duo Ascending, founded in 2014. She has been playing section violin in the Carmel Symphony Orchestra since 2016, and shares her joy in music with her full private violin studio and growing family.

Tricia started her violin journey at age five with Sandy Collins, and later Katie Gardner, participating in multiple youth orchestras, intensives, and summer music festivals annually, which led to her earning a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Butler University’s Jordan College of Fine Arts, under the guidance of Larry Shapiro and Drs. Davis and Lisa Brooks. Since then, Bonner has had the opportunity to perform in a variety of capacities both in the United States and abroad, including Ireland, Africa, Australia, Canada, and the Dominican Republic.

Alongside her violinist-husband, Reid Bonner, Tricia has served in the following regional symphony orchestras: Lafayette, Anderson, Richmond, Kokomo, Fishers, Hendricks, Columbus, Danville (Illinois), and Lebanon (Ohio). With a special affinity for interdisciplinary productions, she has played many of the major ballets of the repertoire with the Indianapolis Ballet and the Butler Ballet Orchestra, where she has often served as concertmaster over the past 15 years. Traditional Irish music plays a unique part of her diverse career as Tricia fiddles with the internationally award-winning Indianapolis Ceili Band. An avid chamber musician, she adores playing great works of the repertoire with dear friends, and has occasionally performed as guest violist with the Abel Family Quartet. In every performance opportunity and teaching moment, Tricia actively seeks to deliver truth, and enrich others’ lives by sharing her genuine passion for music.
