Melinda Bowman

Melinda Bowman has been a part of the Carmel Symphony viola section since 2002. Melinda’s musical journey began at the age of six with piano lessons and choir, and at age nine when she first started playing the viola. Growing up in Rochester, New York, Melinda has had the opportunity to showcase her skills with community orchestras in upstate New York, central Indiana and also in Germany and France.

Her passion for music and languages led her to Lawrence University in Wisconsin, where she majored in German and French. While at Lawrence University, Melinda studied viola with Professor Matthew Michelic and performed with the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra.

Beyond her musical career, Melinda is also a dedicated high school German teacher at Warren Central High School, sharing her love of language, music and culture with her students. Melinda volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Fishers Troops 109 and 1090. She and her husband David and children Veronica and Stephen live in Fishers.
