Principal

Known for her sincere artistry and expressive prowess, oboist Rebecca McGuire enjoys a diverse career as an orchestral musician, soloist, recording studio artist, chamber player, and dedicated teacher.

Currently Principal Oboe of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, Rebecca also performs with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra among others.

Her collaborations in chamber music have included guest artist performances at the Juneau Jazz and Classics Festival (AK), American Music Festival (NC), Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival in Korea, and Chamberfest Brown County (IN).

As a soloist, Rebecca recently performed Eric Ewazen’s Down a River of Time Concerto for oboe and strings with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. She made her debut as an international soloist in 2018, performing Telemann’s Oboe Concerto in F minor and the Samuel Barber Canzonetta for Oboe and Strings with the Freies Kammerorchester Köln under the direction of award-winning violinist and Baroque specialist, Stephan Schardt in Cologne, Germany.

Rebecca is the Professor of Oboe at both Indiana State University and Eastern Illinois University and maintains a private studio of students in Bloomington, Indiana. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University, a Master’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin, and attended Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music as a doctoral student in Oboe Performance where she studied with Roger Roe of the Indianapolis Symphony and former Metropolitan opera oboist Linda Strommen.
