Laura Recendez
A native of California, flutist Laura Recendez is a highly sought after orchestral musician based in Indianapolis. She serves as principal flute of Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and second flute with Carmel Symphony, and Anderson Symphony Orchestra. She serves as piccolo with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, but will hold the position of interim principal flute for the upcoming 23-24 season. She is also the interim second flute with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and appears regularly with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
A passion for chamber music and education has led to many opportunities to perform with, and direct chamber ensembles. Her work as a classical music ambassador to the city of Indianapolis, through Classical Music Indy, is a constant reminder of the importance of musical enrichment in the lives of young people and under served communities. Recendez is the founder/executive director of the Indy Winds Flute Choir, a 30 member flute orchestra of all ages and levels. She also serves as Personnel Manager for the Anderson Symphony, one of the top regional orchestras in Indiana.
As a teacher, Recendez maintains a private studio in Indianapolis focused on adult musicians looking to enrich their lives through continued pursuit and rediscovery of musical practice. In her free time, Recendez is passionate about fitness and psychology. She is an amateur acrobat and competitive pole athlete. She lives with her son Milo and their 8 chickens.
