Violist Rachel Gries graduated from IU’s School of Music with both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. She has played with the Carmel Symphony for over 15 years and has served as Principal Viola since 2020. Rachel also serves as Principal Viola in the Anderson Symphony Orchestra and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra. She often travels to play with other groups throughout the Midwest and enjoys performing at weddings and other events with her chamber group, Smith Valley Strings.
Rachel shares her passion for music to families at the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy where she teaches private lessons and group classes. Outside of performing and teaching, Rachel enjoys strength training, volunteering in her community, supporting Special Olympics, and spending time with her family.
