Allegra Hein

Allegra Hein received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance and Music Therapy from Ohio University, studying with Dr. Winston Choi and Dr. Youmee Kim, respectively. Additional teachers include Dr. Rebecca Sorley, Mrs. Dorothy Munger, Dr. Karen Taylor, Dr. Richard Ratliff, and André Watts. Allegra has been featured live on WFMT, Chicago’s Classical Music radio station, as a soloist and with her mom Dr. Rebecca Sorley. A regular collaborator with the Indianapolis Opera since 2015, she has participated as coach and collaborative pianist for 5 resident artist seasons, performed the American premiere of Mansfield Park, and collaborated with world-renowned soprano Angela Brown. Allegra has been a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) since 2016 and has experience working with older adults and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Currently, Hein is the Arts & Engagement Coordinator at Eskenazi Health. She primarily coordinates the Marianne Tobias Music Program which provides weekly live performances for patients, visitors, and staff of the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. Additionally, Allegra performs regularly throughout Indianapolis as a collaborative pianist, serves as principal keyboardist for the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, and provides music therapy consultation to local arts organizations.
