Lev Roshal, violinist, is delighted to enter his second year with the Carmel Symphony Orchestra. Hailing from Rochester, NY, he is currently a doctoral student at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he is pursuing simultaneous degrees in Music Theory (PhD) and Violin Performance and Literature (DM), with a minor in Ethnomusicology. At Jacobs, he is the newly elected president of the Graduate Theory Association and serves as a coordinating instructor of music theory and musical skills. In the Spring of 2024, Lev was deeply honored to have been named the dedicatee of Andrew Mead’s Sonata No. 2 for Solo Violin, following a performance of the work on one of his recitals. Outside of Indiana, Lev is the concertmaster of the Ohio Light Opera. His debut album, with pianist Albert Newberry, is entitled Sergei Bortkiewicz: Complete Works for Violin and Piano, and is available for purchase and streaming on all major platforms. When not playing or writing about music, Lev enjoys a good board or soccer game and is an avid orienteerer.
